They say that variety is the spice of life, and for Adam Strum, NYC pro guitarist, the maxim is wrought with more than its share of truth. Born to Bruce and Ronnie Strum, young Adam could not seem to escape the inevitable foreshadowing of the family's surname -- in 1982, at the tender age of 5, he picked up a guitar for the first time and hasn't put in down in the 25 years since.

Graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production and Engineering, Strum's original music is a unique mix of funk-tinged blues, 70's-inspired lounge rock, and roots-of-acid-jazz-induced compositions. His arrangements vary from slower-burning guitar grooves, heavy with spacey electric piano, to straight-ahead funk jams, peppered with slap bass and textured with the occasional 5/4 time signature. Not surprisingly, Adam's influences are equally diverse, ranging from the iconoclastic psychedelia of Jimi Hendrix and The Grateful Dead, to the subtler virtuosity of Frank Zappa and Grant Green. His current original project, Wu Li, can only be described as quantum-core. An intense instrumental exploration to discover universal patterns of energy; a highly experimental endeavor!

As a session musician, Strum has shown his versatility by delving into the pop world, gigging and recording with N'Dea Davenport (Brand New Heavies) and grammy-nominated Jeni Fujita (Wyclef Jean). Strum also worked with producer Al Mack on tracks for Pink, Angie Stone, Ultra Nate, and Barbara Tucker. In addition, countless independent singers and songwriters have employed his skills in the studio and onstage.

The elder of two Strum children, Adam showed early prowess as a sportsman and a student, garnering various honors in both academia as well as in athletics. Not only did he finish in the top 5% of his high school graduating class, but he also earned the distinction of striking out 17 of 18 batters in a six-inning baseball game, a record that will live forever in the annals of Commack North Little League history. But despite these early clean cut attributes, the pull of music proved far too strong for him to ignore. Now living in Brooklyn with his lovely wife Tatum, he finds himself busy with bands, artists, pre-school music programs, and the private students who enjoy learning from an encouraging and well-versed teacher.
